REASONS TO HAVE A GO

Bowls is a sport that takes minutes to learn

– but a lifetime to master

We believe that everyone should realise and enjoy the pleasure and benefits of playing sports, if you aged between 9 and 99.

There are so many reasons why bowls is ideally placed to unlock the many benefits, experiences and pleasures of life:

Playing Bowls is easy to learn and play.

Whatever you physique, bowls is a sport  for everyone and it will help to improve your general fitness and mental well being.

Bowls is not and expensive sport to participate in.

To get started you don’t need lots of new kit and the club provides free taster sessions.

After Football, Bowls has the second highest number of clubs in the country.

Clearly it is a popular participation sport and you make loads of long lasting friendships, and the famous Margaret Catchpole club is a great to club to play with.

Compared to most other sports, age and gender differences have less effect on your basic ability to play. So it is a perfect sport to spend time playing and enjoy friendly competition with your family and friends.

Bowls clubs are sociable places full of people looking to have fun and become part of the wider bowling fraternity.

It is a great way to relax, make new friends, feel part of the local community.

The Margaret Catchpole Bowls Club is always open to friendly visitors. If you are lonely, inquisitive, have time on your hands and you do not feel able to bowl you can always pop into the club for a friendly chat and a cup of tea etc. Who knows, you may decide to assist with the many non-playing aspects of the club and you will be made equally welcome. Many of our members are senior citizens and find that being associated with the club is fulfilling and becomes an integral part of their lives and in some cases a reason to exist. So why not make the effort to come and investigate!
