MARGARET CATCHPOLE BOWLS CLUB – RULES and CONSTITUTION

1. The Club shall be called the "Margaret Catchpole Bowls Club" (hereafter called the Club).
2. The officers shall consist of a President, Secretary and Treasurer, who shall be elected annually by the members at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), to be held normally in October each year.
3. Four trustees, who must be club members, will be nominated by the club at a General Meeting.
4. The Management Committee shall consist of the three officers and the team Captains and shall be elected at the AGM.
Any vacancies arising during the season, may be filled by the agreement of the committee. Five members shall form a quorum for Committee Meetings. Sub committees for club activities may be formed and Club members may be co-opted for this purpose.
5. Annual subscriptions shall be agreed by members at the AGM and shall be payable by 30 Novemberof each year. A £5 discount is given to members paying in full by 30 November. The committee may invite an existing member with at least ten years service who does not normally bowl to become an Associate Member. An Associate Member may be registerred to play in official matches for the club. No person will be eligible to play in matches until their annual subscription has been paid in full. Members playing matches shall pay a "match fee" which shall be decided at the AGM. Travelling expenses will not be paid by the club.
Guests of members wishing to play on the Green shall pay a fee, per session, at the rate approved by the AGM. Guests will also be required to sign in the Club visitors book (situated in the Clubhouse).
6. All members playing in matches, County and Club Competitions shall wear the standard dress, as laid down by the appropriate Bowling Associations.
7. Alterations or additions to these rules may only be made by a majority of members at the AGM. Any proposals must have a proposer and seconder and be forwarded the Secretary, in writing, at least seven days prior to the meeting.
8. New members. All applications for membership must be proposed and seconded on the Club "Membership Application" form. The Management Committee reserve the right to refuse membership.
9. Dissolution. The Club may be dissolved at any time by the approving votes of two thirds of those present in person or by proxy at a General Meeting. Upon dissolution of the club any remaining assets shall be given or transferred to another registered bowling club, a registered charity or the sport’s governing body for use by them in related community sports.
Rules for Club Competitions
Singles: The singles competitions will be played to the normal BE or EBF code during the season.
It is the responsibility of both participants to contact one another and arrange a suitable date for the game to be played, within the stated time limit. Failure to comply could result in the competition organisers fixing the date or eliminating the culprit. An extension of the stated time limit may be permitted by the organisers in exceptional circumstances. Markers for singles games should be arranged by mutual consent between the two participants.
Ralph Gage SinglesCup: This competition will be played as a One Day Singles Tournament on a date allocated by the Club committee. The actual formula of the competition will be determined by the number of entrants and organised accordingly.
Pairs: The pairs will be drawn on a 'Pot Luck" basis, the organisers dividing all contestants into leads and skips before drawing the respective Pairs. The Over 55's Pairs will be played during the season to the normal BE code.
Triples: The triples will be drawn on a 'Pot Luck" basis, the organisers dividing all contestants into leads, seconds and skips before drawing the respective Triples.
Substitutes: A substitute may be allowed at the discretion of the organisers, if a participant is unavailable for any genuine reason, subject to the following conditions.
1. The substitute must be of roughly similar playing standard to the person being substituted. The original entrant must play in all subsequent rounds of the competition, if available.
2. The substitute must not still be in involved in that particular competition.
3. The competition organisers must be informed and indicate their agreement before the substitute plays in a particular game.
Finals Day: All finals should be played by the third Sunday in September
Entries: Entry sheets for the BE and EBF Championship Singles and Over 55’s Pairs will be displayed on the Clubhouse Noticeboard and members should add their names on the appropriate lists by 31 May. The remittance should be paid to the Treasurer before before playing in the competitions. Entry details for the club pairs and triples will be displayed on the Clubhouse Noticeboard and entries accepted thereafter.
